Mr. Miller graduated from Washburn University School of Law in 2019. While in law school, he served as president of the Student Bar Association, received his Tax Law Certificate and was a member of the ABA Negotiations Competition Team. In his final year of law school, Miller was a judicial extern for U.S. District Court Judge Daniel Crabtree. Miller graduated law school with Pro Bono Honors for his hours of volunteer work including helping low income tax payers file their federal and state tax returns with the Voluntary Income Tax Assistance program. Additionally, Miller worked on the Georgia Project, where he assisted law students from the Country of Georgia develop amicus curiae briefs for cases appearing before the Constitutional Court of Georgia. Miller is a member of the Order of the Barristers, an honor society for United States law school graduates who demonstrate exceptional skill in trial advocacy, oral advocacy, and brief writing.
Prior to law school, Miller worked as the Legislative Director for the Minority Leader of the Kansas House of Representatives. His work focused on policy areas including labor and employment. During law school, Miller was a lobbyist for the Working Kansas Alliance and Keeping the Kansas Promise, organizations made up of labor unions in Kansas, where he advocated for workers’ rights and public pensions. Miller continues today to lobby and work on behalf of the Working Kansas Alliance as their Executive Director. His passion for workers led him to be selected to attend the Peggy Browning Foundation’s Workers’ Rights Conference as a law student.
In June of 2021, Governor Laura Kelly appointed Miller to serve as the Employees Representative on the Unemployment Compensation Modernization and Improvement Council. Currently, Miller also serves on the Wyandotte County Unified Government’s Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Wyandotte County Golf Advisory Board.
